Musical performance is the foundation of all my work. Music is a language that knows no boundaries. Performance is communication, the sharing of ideas and emotions, it is a joy and privilege to perform.
I am an experienced teacher and the foundation of my teaching is musical appreciation and listening skills. For my younger pupils that means making wonderful music together, and for grown-ups it means being initiated into the joy of performing music. Grades are useful but they are only one part of becoming a musician. My Associated Board pass rate is 100%, but by making the exam into the end point of an enjoyable learning journey my students attain Merits and Distinctions much more often than they expect.
In my coaching work I help performers and teachers find their next level. For soloists taking grade exams the opportunity to train with a professional accompanist is invaluable. As Head of the Elgar School of Music in Worcester for 3 years I was able to develop an effective professional development programme for all music teachers.
